Jarvis

I installed liquidsoap on a dedicated Ubuntu desktop machine, and began working on the script to build Jarvis. It is very powerful, and has all the features and functions I need to have complete control over the stream and do some really amazing things. (More detail in the code pages coming soon).

Jarvis is the name of the software entity that basically runs the radio station’s broadcasting functions.

John W. (JDub) and I are big fans of Avengers, so many references to the station are tied to these movies.

Jarvis is the code name for the liquidsoap script which performs all automated functions of Hawkwynd Radio unattended. It provides services such as administration, scheduling, request functions and more.

The name “Jarvis” was a perfect fit for this service and he was born sometime early in 2020. There are many parts to Hawkwynd Radio beside Jarvis and The Live Broadcast machine, which I will attempt to accurately document here.

The Keep

The Keep was aptly named because it references the physical storage of the audio files kept available for play by Jarvis. Currently it is a 1TB SATA drive internally running on Jarvis. It is planned to move it to a seperate hard disk outside the operating system to protect it from being lost in case of failures.
